Quotes

The Quotes window provides current quote information for any ticker symbol, including stocks, mutual funds, futures, options, or market indices. For market indices, you can also view Reuters market reports. For stocks, you can also view company news and background information.

Note: Quote information is delayed up to 20 minutes. Click the Exchange List link (at the bottom of the My Passport page) for the exact time delay for each exchange. To refresh the market prices, click the Refresh button at the top right of the My Passport page. The time zone for quotes and news is always Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

You can:

• View an historical price chart
• Read company news
•  Read company background information
• Read a market report for an index
• Add a symbol to a watchlist
• Get another quote
• Look up a ticker symbol

To open the Quotes window:

1. Do any of the following:
   • Enter a symbol or company name in the Quick Quote box in the left frame, then click Go.
   • On the My Passport page, click a symbol from a watchlist or market indices section.
   • Within a news story, click a ticker symbol.

To view an historical price chart:

1. Click the Chart link (at the top of the Quotes window).
   
   A 1-year price chart appears for the selected symbol. You can select another time frame from the drop-down menu. Historical charts are available for 1 day (intraday), 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, or 5 years.

To read company news:

You can view current Reuters news for the selected company. Company news is available only for stocks. 

1. Get a quote for a stock symbol.
2. Click the Company News link (at the top of the Quotes window). 
3. Click a headline to display that news story.

Company background provides detailed information about the selected company, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and other financial and general information. Company background is available only for stocks. 

1. Get a quote for a stock symbol.
2. Click the Company Background link (at the top of the Quotes window).

To read a market report for an index:

Market reports are available for any of the market indices available on the My Passport page. To add a list of market indices to your My Passport page, see

1. Get a quote for a market index.
2. Click the Market Report link (at the top of the Quotes window).

To add a symbol to a watchlist:

1. Do either of the following:
   • Get a quote for a ticker symbol.
   • Look up a ticker symbol.
2. Click the Add to Watchlist link.
   
   If you have more than one watchlist on the My Passport page, a window appears listing your watchlists. Select a watchlist or select All, then click Continue. Click Save on the Confirmation message.

To get another quote:

1. Do either of the following:
   • Enter a ticker symbol in the field (in the upper right of the window), then click Get Quote.
   • Enter a ticker symbol in the Quick Quote box in the left frame, then click Go.

To look up a ticker symbol:

1. Click the Find Symbol link (at the top right of the Quotes window).
2. Select the security type: Stock, Fund, Index, or All.
3. Select either "Start with" or "Contain" to indicate whether the text you want to search for begins the company name or is contained within the name.
4. Type all or part of the company name.
   
   Note: Do not enter punctuation or spaces.
5. Click Search. The results appear with company names and ticker symbols that match your search criteria.
6. You can do any of the following:
   • Click a symbol to view a quote and other information for that company.
   • Click the Watch icon to add a symbol to a watchlist.
     
     If you have more than one watchlist on the My Passport page, a window appears listing your watchlists. Select a watchlist or select All, then click Continue. Click Save on the Confirmation message.
