With Private Passport Mobile and Text Banking you can take your Private Passport with you wherever you go.  Securely check your financial status anytime, anywhere. SMS banking gives you real time access to all of your Northern Trust accounts.   Through the SMS service you can:

Private Passport Mobile provides the same secure access that you get from your desktop version, and you can access all accounts enrolled in Private Passport.  Simply access http://www.northerntrust.com from your mobile device browser to get started.  Leverage more banking features by downloading teh app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. download the app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.  

 

Log in using your normal User ID and Password to:  

  • View account balances

  • View account activity

  • View account holdings

  • Transfer funds and view transfer status

  • Pay bills

  • Deposit check (app only)

  • View banking documents (app only)

  • Freeze/unfreeze ATM/Debit cards

  • Read economic and market commentary from Northern Trust experts (app only)

Note:  If you have designated a preferred account using the Mobile Preferences function from Private Passport Mobile website, that account will be listed first on the Accounts screen when using the downloadable app.

Key Points for Balances, Activity, Holdings, Transfers, Bill Pay, Deposit Check, and Markets & Quotes

Balances

  • Display

    • Accounts display as "Account Type (last four digits of account number)" - for example, "Checking (...1234)"

    • Nickname is displayed when one exists

  • Balances

    • Real time balances are shown for banking accounts

    • Intraday balances are shown for all other account types

  • Balance Types

    • Available Balance reflects amount currently available for use and includes Northern Line where applicable

    • Current Balance reflects all transactions posted to the account

    • Market Values reflect best available data

  • Navigation

    • Tap on any account to view recent transactions for the account

    • Press ‘More’ button to see additional accounts (only available if more than 20 accounts are enrolled)

Activity

  • Display

    • Activity includes date, amount and short description

    • 60 days of transactions are available

    • Transactions are listed in reverse chronological order (newest first)

  • Types

    • Includes pending banking transactions

    • Activity available for all account types (including Trust, Northern Funds, and Brokerage)

Holdings

  • Display

    • Asset class and detailed positional information for accounts

    • Market Values that reflect the best available prices, including intraday prices where applicable

    • Change in account value from the previous business day’s position at the account, asset class and position levels

    • Change values represented by amount and percent change

    • Accounts display as ‘Account Type (…last four digits of account number)” – for example, “Brokerage (…1234)”

    • Nickname is displayed when one exists

    • Segmented button to toggle between holdings and activity data (Holdings will be the default)

    • The Holdings menu option will be available when at least one Investment or Other Assets account type is enrolled to your ID

  • Types

    • Holdings data will be available for Investment and Other Assets account types

  • Navigation

    • Navigate to Holdings from Balances by selecting an Investment or Other Assets account

    • Select the Holdings menu option from the Main Menu

    • Tap asset class or asset descriptions to expand or collapse data

    • Tap the change value to toggle between the amount and percent change

Transfers

  • Navigation

    • It is a three-step process: Create, Review, and View

    • Selecting a From account filters the available To accounts

Bill Pay

  • Navigation

    • Bill Pay features include - Make A Payment, E-Bill, Pending/Completed Transactions.  iPad users can add new billers in the app

  • Differences From Desktop Version

    • New accounts can only be added from the desktop version (as well as initial e-bill signup)

    • Payments may not be scheduled more than 1 year in advance

    • The E-Bill page shows only unpaid e-bills due in the next 60 days and unpaid e-bills that were due in the prior 30 days   

    • If an e-bill is paid from the Payment page rather than the E-Bill page, it will remain in the e-bill list until 30 days after the due date

    • Bills that do not have a minimum payment show $0.00 in the minimum payment field

Popmoney

  • Navigation
    • Select the Popmoney option in main menu to send money to almost anyone by using their email address or mobile phone number
    • Make person to person payments by selecting someone from your contacts list or enter in a new payee mobile phone number or email address
    • Define a payment amount and tap send.  The payee will receive an email or text message with instructions on how to deposit the money into their account
    • Money will be deducted from your account within one business day.  Payee will see funds deposited within 1-3 business days  
    • There is no fee to send money using the Popmoney feature
    • Popmoney is available on mobile phones (both iPhone and Andriod)

Deposit Check

  • Display

    • Deposit Check menu item is present in authenticated sessions

    • Accounts display as 'Account Type (...last four digits of account number)" - for example, "Checking (...1234)"

    • Nickname is displayed when one exists

  • Navigation

    • Use the segmented button on a mobile phone to toggle between the deposit check process and status for previously deposited checks.  iPad app displays mobile deposit activity to the right of Deposit Check page

Markets & Quotes

  • Display

    • View market centric information; quotes, news and charts

    • Detailed quote information on specific asset or market index

  • Navigation

    • Select the Markets & Quotes menu option from the Main Menu

    • Tap the ‘Details’ link when viewing detailed positional information in Holdings

    • Once in Markets & Quotes, tap available segmented button options and/or descriptions to drill into additional details
