How do I transfer money to and from my brokerage account?

When you open a brokerage account, you can set up a primary settlement account that is linked to your brokerage account. Transfers are automatically made to or from this account when a trade is executed or when interest and dividends are earned. Your primary settlement account is typically a banking deposit account. It can also be a Northern Funds Money Market held either within the brokerage account or outside of the Brokerage Account.

If your primary settlement account is a Northern Funds Money Market held within your brokerage account, you can use the Create Brokerage Linked Account page to link a banking account to your brokerage account. This will enable you to use the Transfer page to move money between the linked banking account and your brokerage account.

Note: A transfer between your brokerage account and a linked banking account will post on the same day if it is initiated by 12 noon on a bank business day. Otherwise, the transfer will post on the next business day. For more information, see When will my transfer post?
